"I think we're very close to a deal today. I'm hopeful that we can get that done," Mnuchin told CNN's Jake Tapper on"State of the Union."The funding is needed to continue a program for small businesses affected by the coronavirus crisis that ran out of funding last week.
Mnuchin said he believes another small business package could allocate $300 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program, $50 billion appropriated for disaster loans, $75 billion for hospitals and $25 billion to invest in testing."I'm hopeful that we can reach an agreement that the Senate can pass this tomorrow, and that the House can take it up on Tuesday. Wednesday, we would be back up and running."Read MoreThis story is breaking and will be updated.

And what about the people?
Will small family owned businesses actually get money this time?
Let's make sure it benefits SMALL businesses, not multi-million dollar companies
If money gets into the deserving hands it will be a miracle. But this is a chance for people to get better. Love your fellow man. And stop hoarding the toilet paper. Trump should make special mention of this.
Who’s going to pay for this? My children will...for Trump’s continued failures. And his failures will continue.
How small? Because later “small” is usually too big.
He didn't say anything about the businesses, that are NOT small, getting millions of dollars & taking it away from the true small businesses.
Just another ploy to buy the election. CROOKS

Is this like the last deal where very individual McDonald’s is considered a small business and can grab the funds before actual small businesses? (Exaggeration, but not by much). corruption SmallBusiness COVID19
Good
RE: Steve Mnuchin says, 'We are close to a deal today' to provide billions to small businesses COMMENT: No problem, just dust off the old printing press and get cracking!
Yeah and how much money did you make for that stupid ass decision?
Good to know we are able the keep the luxury steakhouse business afloat. Make sure to include some more funds for Harvard too. Both are nearing financial ruin
the fuck does it matter these rich millionaire asshats are just making themselves richer during a pandemic it's practically robbery and racketeering...
Democracts want free stuff for their homeless, ghetto districts.
How much is he going to steal from that fund for his big business buddies?
Hope this game ends soon this is not good for the speaker or the Congreve that is controlled by Democrats. There is no reason to put the employees hostage for stupid games here
I know you call it a small business loan program, but come on Mr. Munchin tell the truth.
People on SS and SS Disability have not gotten checks and when we try to verify where they are we get “Status Not Ave” where are our checks
Will you stop calling it small business loans, we know that it is a lie.
I’ll bet you $100 this dude drank toilet water in high school
Small business package could allocate $300 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program, $50 billion appropriated for disaster loans, $75 billion for hospitals and $25 billion to invest in testing Just to be clear, this is going to be at least 450 billion? 'Could' is key here.
$25 billion for testing is an attempt to take credit for what’s already happening. SpeakerPelosi knows their “can’t reopen until more testing capacity” argument is falling apart daily as developed tests get broader usage. We’re already beyond capacity originally said 2b needed.
“300 should last a small business 17 weeks” The idiot in charge of our money.
Which mean the top politicians in this administration will be getting another large deposit in their accounts. Too bad small businesses will not receive as much.
Where did the first trillions went?
Let’s go Nancy , put the ice cream down and go to work !
I have one question with all this spending and its What criteria is being used to throw money at all of us? Do you just have to have a name?
I do really hope they get this done today But there has to be some money for states to maintain essential services such as the police, first responders, fire-rescue, sanitation workers and the like USTreasury senatemajldr SenSchumer
How much he get?
Steve Mnuchin says all sides were ' making lot of progress ' on another $300 billion in small business.
FundEIDL and remove grant rule imposed by the SBA making it dependent on of employees, so volunteer nonprofits and other small businesses that aren't eligible for PPP loans can get assistance.
Steve Mnuchin says small business deal may be passed within days.
Did you hear him today? The paper cheques are not out yet. He seems to think people can live on $1,200 for 10 weeks. I would like him to try that, he's delusional.
This is ridiculous. The deal should have been made much earlier. Congress needs to stop holding middle class workers hostage in order to score political wins. Disgusting.
Not if Nancy has anything to say about it.
They steve just wondering did you sign a prenup
CoverJoeBiden
Why a deal? It was a clean bill until SpeakerPelosi spiked it.
More money to banks so they can refuse loans and then cry poor.. Smh don't forget about the 1.6 trillion given with no hesitation to the financial institutions as soon as wall street started melting down
