The death comes as Amazon faces continued criticism over its treatment of warehouse workers during the pandemic.

over the company's labor practices. Amazon has not responded to Bray's post, in which he said the company had a "lack of vision about the human costs of the relentless growth and accumulation of wealth and power."Amazon workers previously told CNBC they've become paranoid that managers aren't being honest about whether employees are sick with the virus.

Due to the coronavirus, Amazon has staggered shifts at its facilities to prevent crowding, which means that certain employees may find out about a death at the facility before others, Amazon said. That's likely to cause some confusion among employees who hear about a death from a coworker before they receive official confirmation from their facility.

Since there was no general announcement of the worker's passing, the worker said other employees in the facility heard "through the grapevine" over the past few weeks that an individual died from the coronavirus. Many workers don't know the name of the individual who died, only that he worked on the overnight shift as a picker.

The MDW8 employee said Amazon didn't shut down the facility after the worker's death was announced. The employee said they were told that the facility would conduct a deep cleaning following the announcement of the worker's death. The worker said cleaning crews in hazmat suits came to the facility and cleaned it section by section, while employees were on the job, including many of he "high traffic touch points" like guardrails and the bins that hold packages.

chick_in_kiev At some point their immediate health concerns will outweigh their economic concerns and they’ll walk. How many more deaths til then?

chick_in_kiev How are you supposed to create billions for the owners without screwing the employees

Oh they’re more than “concerns”

Because the guy lives there and couldn't of gotten it anywhere else.

Are they wearing masks?

More bullshit media agenda.

any stock trader here!!

LIVE IN FREEDOM AND WORK TO DEATH! That is how America rolls!

Profits over people!! Shut your mouth and get back to work!

If the COVID19 coronavirus pandemic won't GET CH'A ...the Damn Job will... poorguy

It's already gotten old responding to cardboard boxes that show up at our doors delivering something we ordered as potentially the source of illness or death and now seeing this photograph with discussion about an Amazon worker's death is disturbing regarding workers & customers

Meanwhile, thousands of people have committed suicide without more work... And you're talking about a worker who probably died from causes of immune system problems.

This can happen in any company right now. Why focus on Amazon?

The country is opening back up

It’s all fun&games until people around you die.

Fear......thats what media is doing.

Bds amazon. Bastard bezos directly involved in stealing global seed banks, gm modifying them, copyrighting them, forcing them upon farmers. Based on fake science. Ecological devastation. Hand in hand with monsanto. Poisoning our food and land and water. BDS

Inaccurate and flawed! No matter what you die from if they find you had coronavirus then that's the cause of death

It's one of those common scenarios wherein people are treated as mere tools and expendables just to feed the company's greed

This is BS news.

Employees work elbow to elbow, cause the management force them to do so. Social distancing is a long lost term in the warehouse 🤨

Seems Bezos is not willing to give up anything. I haven't mail ordered in a long time.

The fake news went from fake news, to fake deaths..pathetic

so sad news for amzol workers

this is no conspiracy. anyone interested in an European stock market that offers high profit should message me

They have 800,000 employees

Some fool will say it’s conspiracy

Amazon negligently exposed mine and 283 other employees personal information a few months ago. Then hackers emailed me trying to get $1200.. the emails, letters, and documents from senate against Amazon are here

Yes, burn your packages from AMZN.

Another amazon employee died in April! Meanwhile JeffBezos safe n sound on his yacht or in a mansion somewhere chillin. $15 and hr for a life or a 100 Billion to live to watch others die RipAmazonWorker Amazon NotEssentialIfYouDie

MelaynaLokosky It's a Walmart with no Store. People hated Walmart for years...

LiberalFearMongering

I’m a order picker amazon where 100 ppl pick per shift. We’re required 2wear a harness because the OP we drive elevates up to 30 ft. 100 pickers - 100 harnesses. The best they can do is clean 5 at a time. These hooks are always empty. We all risk wearing something contaminated.

Oh fo. People die in lots of companies.

Amazon is all about it money they don’t care anything more than that.

I believe Jeff Bezos has committed to spending the entire Q2 profits on Covid-19.... ummmmm that comes out to $4 billion. The man is going to throw $4 billion at the problem. Maybe he could do more... but 4 billion is a good start.

CNBC is utter garbage FAKE news...don't believe anything thy report. I watched them religiously for decades but over the last 4 years their mission is clear....BLAST realDonaldTrump at all costs. Watch FoxBusiness or even business instead. I switched...

Of course this is unfair to the workers but also to Amazon customers. Even though the virus supposedly lives on card board for only 24 hours & on other materials for varying amounts of time, it gives one pause ordering from a company that's in a second hand way putting us at risk

They dont give 2 fucks !! its all about the $$$ MONEY ,, CoronavirusUSA COVID19

Amazon employs 800k people. IF covid actually killed 70k Americans.. then 169 workers should be dead.. how are they saving so many people?

Okay ..

This story is garbage. We live in a free country, if the employees are scared of getting sick they are Free to stay at home, the rest can work and earn a living.

Such a bullshit 🤦🏻‍♂️

Amazon. Owned by Jeff Bezos. Who also owns the washingtonpost A media organization that constantly attacks Trump and is championed by leftists.

They prolly dont know in the U.S we don't care about human lives.. only deep pockets.

Can anyone prove they contracted the virus at work? No.

Did he get coronavirus on the job? Or somewhere else? How did they prove he got it from work?

Amazon .....

Masks do not prevent sh*t. And the Government and Amazon are profit buddies, good luck.

Lol this is past ridiculous.....

Amazon has replaced Walmart as merchant of 💀

Masks for the employees, now! And anyone who gets sloppy or lazy with their masks, which I see almost every day by the way, gets sent home.

How many flu deaths does AMZN have each year? You are pumping fear into the world for no reason other than to be dramatic

But that was good for you, I bet.

Amazon has done a great job making themselves look like unethical assholes this year. Stock is up though so who cares 🤡
