Premier Daniel Andrews’ decision to enforce a work-from-home order on the Victorian business sector was “completely disingenuous,” according to LNP MP Jon Krause.

Victoria will introduce a public health order on Monday which will prohibit people from returning to their workplace if they have been working from home throughout the coronavirus crisis. Premier Daniel Andrews announced businesses would face hefty fines for breaching the order as health authorities warned the risk of a second wave was too great to allow people to return to work.

Mr Krause said Mr Andrews “has enjoyed the extra power that has come with this health crisis” and his collaboration with China over the Belt and Road initiative may have given him the opportunity to “learn from the socialist masters in Beijing about how to control the economy and the population”. Time, money and human resources have been invested by the private sector to ensure businesses could continue to function throughout the coronavirus-imposed lockdown.
