Amazon tweeted an extraordinary statement about the 'inequitable and brutal treatment of Black people' in support of George Floyd protesters

Two crossed lines that form an 'X'. It indicates a way to close an interaction, or dismiss a notification. As protests over George Floyd's death turned to riots across the country, Amazon offered an extraordinary show of support for the protesters and the Black community.

The Seattle retail and cloud giant tweeted out a statement that point-black said that "inequitable and brutal treatment of Black people in our country must stop." Should Amazon decide to put its weight behind such a message, it could be a game-changer, given that Amazon has itself faced criticism of its treatment of its warehouse and Whole Foods workers, and the sale of facial recognition technology to law enforcement agencies.

Amazon is not the only tech company issuing statements in support of the Black community. The tech giant joins Twitter, Microsoft and others in making similar calls. As protests across the nation rage for days after the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed after a white police officer knelt on his neck, support for the protestors are coming from some of the most extraordinary corners of the tech world.

"The inequitable and brutal treatment of Black people in our country must stop. Together we stand in solidarity with the Black community — our employees, customers, and partners — in the fight against systematic racism and injustice."

How about all the Amazon sellers who have been mistreated by the platform. Talk about injustice huh? Start with your backyard.

what racism...? 4 policemen investigated a possible crime. 1 person died. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner announced it has made “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation.”

That is a very bold thing to say at a time like this. I thank you. Now, how many Black managers, upper level, are working at your company? Let us see how sincere these words are. Thanks again.

if BI retweets it, that says bad PR all over it. 🙄

Cool story. They still partnering ring cameras with police departments? Yeah, thought so.....

What a phony! Amazon fired the worker who tried to organize a union. Now Amazon care about black people

Lol, after they fire a guy trying to protect workers from COVID. No ones buying the expensive PR.

What is amazon going to do about it? They have deep pockets.
