The study, based on six years of Australian companies' gender reporting to the federal Workplace Gender Equality Agency, has established that companies that appointed a female CEO increased their market value by 5 per cent.

Electrifying new Australian research has established direct proof for the first time that companies do better when they appoint more women to leadership positions.

Ms Lyons said while the headline data concerned gender, the principle demonstrated was about diversity, and leadership in organisations reflecting the community. The study finds that increasing the number of female board members by 10 per cent or more produces 4.9 per cent boost to a company's market value.

Federal Cabinet's key "razor gang", for instance, the Expenditure Review Committee, which makes final decisions about Commonwealth expenditure, has since a restructure late last year consisted of five men and no women. It's a mandatory reporting requirement, but WGEA is a "soft touch" regulator so non-compliance does not attract a fine.

ABC indentitarian bigots stirring the pot again. Defund the ABC

How much is a biased reporter worth to ABC? About the same as ABC. About nothing, study finds.

My experience in Australia is why I left Aus and came to US, I am a woman in leadership and refuse to come home until I’m CEO and ready, but not every woman is given the experience I have been fortunate to have. I also work in a company with 75% women and 90% in leadership.

All the men commenting who haven't read the material first ...

I would have thought that the BEST CEO would drive better results. Being a woman and a terrible CEO would not be good for any business. Focus on the best person for the job.

What makes a company perform great is a GREAT CEO. Gender doesn't define leadership ability. Just as gender doesn't define which of our politicians are corrupt - quite an even distribution of that in AUS for a long time now (both sides). 🔥👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻🔥

Stop you feminist victimhood! You are the ones keeping women down!

Is the research inferring that being part of a particular identity group makes you more suited to a particular role in society? Sounds like it’s diminishing individual achievement by suggesting immutable characteristics play a role in an individuals success.

If your entire organisation exists just to find gender inequality for women you bet your arse they will find it even if they have to create it themselves.

That’s a lot to pay for virtue signalling...

Have you guys ever heard about the difference between correlation and causation?

No C E O has ever been, nor is now worth that much money...

CEO's are often projected as the height of meritocracy.... majority of the time they are fall guys and elevated via nepotism and cronyism. No two CEO are the same either and that is why their pay dramatically changes. If however its being judged on gender... fist yourself.

BLM. Is the female from the Aboriginal, European, or Asian community of Australians since first contact by foreign white British demon Cook illegally annexing Australia as Britain's like Ireland?

Being divisive through cherry picking data, that habit is becoming a staple of the abc diet.

Was the Workplace Gender Equality Agency ever going to find something else?

No CEO of any company is really worth that much, man or woman.
