Duke Energy, Dominion Energy abandon proposed $8 billion Atlantic Coast pipeline; Dominion to sell gas network to Berkshire for $9.7 billion including debt

The builders of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline are pulling the plug on the project as companies continue to meet mounting environmental opposition to new fossil fuel conduits in the U.S.

Duke Energy Corp. and Dominion Energy Inc. said Sunday that they were abandoning the proposed $8 billion pipeline—which aimed to carry natural gas 600 miles through West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina and underneath the Appalachian Trail—citing continued regulatory delays and uncertainty, even after a favorable Supreme Court ruling last...

Awesome!

A shock wave is coming, Now with the existing energy supplies dwindling away in the NE the cost of energy will just be going up up up, and some smart new owners will be making Billions and Billions!! Just the law of supply and demand.

🙆‍♀️

To all who feel this is a win for the environment. The products sent through pipelines come from the environment. We didn't invent them, we just invented ways to utilize them all. If we did not transport them around the country, they would just seep into the environment elsewhere

Divine intervention

I feel like this a win for society. We should be moving towards green energy. Every step counts.

Thanks for some goodness in the world!

I hope they do not plan on continuing this program... no one wants it.

Good! We need to look at cleaner options.

This made my day!!

Would like to read when I get a minute. Tagged for that.

But wait, what is Berkshire going to do with it?

Good!

Stop pollution.

Good.

Most Excellent

This is good, but BAD Warren Buffet owns it now!!!

Covid19 -- no cure -- refusing to wear masks -- prolonging working from home -- don't need gas. Another win for earth! 🌎

Bullish! Will the stocks rally 10% or 50%

lol

Even the Supreme Court in their pocket could not counter nosediving demand for fossil fuels.

Good! Now let's develop more green energy.

Progressive's ruin another great idea.

Plenty of Berkshire headlines today

good. Many nations, including the EU, have committed to shifting to green hydrogen and other renewables. As usual, the US lags behind. Time to catch up.

Of course Warren Buffet is invested in railroads so he is against pipelines

I can see how delays would factor in heavily here in its cancellation. If it has been bounced around this long, yeah, it was a doomed project. The sad part is the price tag of that loss. This is why feasibility studies should include ALL factors before things go underway.

Which environmentalists see as a 'great victory' when it's actually a withdrawal because of rotten markets...and fossil proponents see it as a 'great loss' during a glut

Fantastic news!! Hopefully they will continue to abandon gas and fossil fuel for green renewable energy sources.

YAY!!!!!! A win for the environment!

Good news for NorthCarolina Appalachian Trail

More jobs lost the government needs to get out of companys way of creating businesses and jobs , unless it has to do with monopolys businesses buying out businesses etc..

Excellent

realDonaldTrump sanctioning companies working on Nordstream 2 because he wants to force Europe to accept American produced LNG whereas Europe has much gas within their own borders. This shows he can't even get the program running full speed in America, one more failure!

Enjoy the winters to come...with no heat as the existing infrastructure succumbs to age and is taken out of service. Enjoy the heat waves of future summers, as there will not be energy to provide the cooling needed to insure the unwell endure.

Thank God

Big mistake. Sorry to see this. The Left doesn’t want any natgas, coal, oil or nuke energy. Higher prices for consumers coming.

Best news of the day.

This is a damn shame for progress and energy. Hopefully it can come up again soon

and this means, fools....you will get a bigger bill as a result. berkshire bought this to make money and you will help every month. congrats

all new pipelines should be forced to wait years just to be told a resounding 'no' - it serves as a harsh reminder they're fools who should've invested more wisely for their desired long-term profits (as opposed to short-term profits with few long-term gains) 😌

Another victim of “Climate Change” propaganda orchestrated and financed by China. Any industry gives 🇺🇸 any semblance of independence will be forced to shut down by Globalists and China under “Climate Change” or “Systemic Racism” and so on. It is becoming a joke of a country.
