It has become a familiar sight during the pandemic — scores of cleaners scrubbing the latest business or school at the centre of a COVID-19 outbreak. This is what they're doing, and how they make sure the virus is eradicated.

It has become a familiar sight during the pandemic, squads of cleaners in hazmat suits scrambling to scrub the latest business or school at the centre of a coronavirus outbreak.Brian Zammit runs BAMS, a major cleaning company in Sydney where business is booming.Mr Zammit began his career 30 years ago cleaning crime scenes but is now focussed almost exclusively on the COVID-19 crisis.

A spokesperson told the ABC, venues and workplaces exposed to a positive case should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, which they can do themselves if they wear appropriate PPE.Work Safe Australia recommends using detergent and water plus a hospital-grade bleach solution on all hard surfaces that may have been contaminated.

But for peace of mind or because the job is too big and overwhelming, many organisations choose to engage contractors like Mr Zammit and his staff.Mr Zammit says his team first sprays disinfecting chemicals into the area that needs to be cleaned to make it safer for staff to operate there."We'll have guys that [disinfect] the computers, the switching, control panels, any electronics.

"And then if the customer wants to take it to another level, we've got microbiologists that'll take swabs," Mr Zammit said.Read more about coronavirus:

ABCthedrum We need technocrats not bureaucrats. Bureaucrats give a false sense of security. Look at Belgium (full of bureaucrats) highest per capita deaths in the world .Look at Germany -western technocrats- a little more successful

Why do they have better PPE than our healthcare workers

June 16 Victoria C-Virus Active cases was less then 380, Today 5950+ 6 AM Last 24 hours, Active cases NSW 19, VIC 295 All this from Daniel Andrews Stuff Ups

Well my school has a confirmed case and is closed. We have been told a 'deep clean involves only the areas where the person identifies, not the entire school. Hopefully parents keep their children at home.

Who gives a rat's toss bag?........723 new cases in Victoria is the news, with hundreds marked for death in the coming weeks.

Waste of money & time. The only benefit, creates employment....that's good I suppose.

Spray shit everywhere and hope for the best
