Here's how to cut your boyfriend's hair without ruining his life Unless, of course, he fancies a lockdown mullet. While many sectors have been hit hard by COVID closures, the beauty industry has had a particularly raw deal says Millie Kendall MBE, CEO of the British Beauty Council. “We’ve been the poor relation in terms of government help and support, compared to say the hospitality industry,” says Kendall.

So how can you and I help save our favourite neighbourhood beauty salons and experts we rely on for their self care skills?Back Beauty is a campaign launched by skin expert and author Caroline Hirons, and sister campaign to Beauty Backed that raised support and funds for the industry in the first lockdown. The aim now is to promote and encourage us to 'back, buy and book' beauty services and products to support the industry we know and love.

Suggestions on how to show your support include booking appointments in advance for when salons reopen so they have some sense of future financial security and you have something to look forward to. Other ideas include buying your daily hair or skincare through your local salon online or via telephone, or gifting yourself or others treatment vouchers this festive season. We call that a win win.
