AI tools and technologies are still rapidly evolving compared with other IT products and services, but the AI adoption challenge isn't simply about waiting for a new version of an algorithm or a powerful new cloud service to reach the market. Adopting AI and advanced analytics is as much about installing a new piece of software as it is about the human beings who use it.

Digging down into the data, there is a wide variation in the number of AI projects that companies have completed, with a small number of respondents saying their companies completed over 100 projects. The majority—60%—have completed between six and 20 projects. Ericsson principal researcher Rebecka Cedering Ångströmthat even AI-leaders faced plenty of challenges. Despite starting their initiatives between four to five years ago on average, 60% reported facing challenges with projects.
