The first duty of a government is the protection of our communities. When it comes to our justice system, surely the best way to do that is through a system that seeks to prevent crime and reoffending, by being tough on its causes. It may be a hackneyed phrase, but it’s one that stands the test of time.

Prison does not work in the UK, it just warehouses criminals, little education & meaningful training, inadequate drug and alcohol treatment and many inside are mentally ill needing treatment but are locked up as a simple solution – why do other countries do it better?

agreed, women are rarely the ringleaders of any criminal operation or any criminal activity a woman is involved with is usually operated by a man or a group of men with the women involved being forced to take part. the root of the problem are social issues.
