As part of the federal government’s $1.2 billion stimulus package 800,000 discounted airline tickets will be made available to Australians in a bid to restore the tourism, travel and aviation industries. “The Palaszczuk government has singlehandedly handed the tourism industry a terrible, terrible, set of cards because of the uncertainty around border closures,” Mr Gleeson told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
He said it was “hypocrisy” for the Queensland government to want the federal government to “pick up the tabs for Brisbanites” who wish to head to Cairns without giving the tourism industry certainty. “The time has come for state and territory leaders in this country to give the tourism industry some certainty, they need certainty they don’t need more lockdown and they certainly don’t need more border closures.

It’s a great program by the government which will help people spend more money at their tourist destinations - more money saved on airplane tickets means more money spent at destinations. Great for tourism operators, but states MUST offer certainty for borders staying open!!!
