Scott Morrison has named farming and manufacturing as key sectors in the federal government’s push to achieve net zero carbon emissions. auspol climatechange emissions

Farming and manufacturing have been named as key sectors in the federal government’s push to achieve net zero carbon emissions, as Prime Minister Scott Morrison promises action on climate change ahead of a global summit that is likely to demand a 2050 deadline for the plan.

Mr Morrison told the BCA’s annual dinner in Sydney that net zero would be achieved but did not say when. Mr Morrison has previously said he wanted the target to be met “as soon as possible” and “preferably” by 2050 but has not set a firm deadline, while Labor has committed to net zero by 2050.Labor climate spokesman Chris Bowen attacked the government for not matching the timeframe set by the US ahead of this week’s online meeting, with Mr Biden and his Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, promising to reach net zero by 2050.

He told the nation’s top business leaders that up to $430 million a year could be saved through a suite of initiatives including plans to reduce paperwork for businesses and make it easier for companies to comply with workplace rules. The $120-million, four-year package, will be built around three themes including reducing the regulatory burdens on businesses in their interaction with government, making it easier for businesses to employ people and setting a foundation for future reforms.

Words words words Panic panic panic. This is not a Morrison awakening, it's a quick Pirouette for the benefit of the LeadersClimateSummit by ScottyTheAnnouncer who's been asleep for a thousand years. auspol LNPfail NetZero

Don't mention the M word?

I'd like to see him munch on his gold bars.

He is naming where he will be diverting government funds.

Shame what effect gas mining is doing to farmers in Qld! Maybe, could it be wishful thinking, his “government “ might think about the importance of the farming industry to all Australians’ health and well being and actually DO SOMETHING for a change!

Mining industry is the problem but they are in bed with Morrison

Australia the shameless coal shilling global pariahs under the LNP , finally caught out on the end of a rotten limb :

Net zero carbon emissions must be the name of a new science fiction movie.

It’s a con job

Blind leading the blind

What a weak prick. Climate policies and renewable policies are already adding an extra $13 billion a year to our electricity bills. Net-zero will continue to de-industrialise the Australian economy and increase our cost of living.

saying Morrison is ‘pushing’ to achieve net zero carbon emissions with a straight face is laughable
