Victoria wants to take an extra 120 overseas students, actors and others travelling to the country for business into its hotel quarantine program each week on top of its quota of returning Australians.
The Victorian government wants to add an economic stream of international arrivals to its quarantine program., the Victorian government proposes receiving the extra travellers from May 24, who will go through quarantine in a different hotel from those housing the 1000 returning citizens and residents it is already taking in each week.
“We’ve always said that we would work to welcome back international students when it is safe and reasonable to do so,” Mr Merlino said.
Didn’t DanielAndrewsMP say after the Holiday Inn outbreak that arrivals should be limited to those with compassionate reasons? This backflip has the universities’ grubby hands all over it. The risk of a quarantine outbreak exists no matter who pays for it or how much they pay
How ridiculous !!!
We have always being the slowest country in the world and this time we are no different. Good luck to us in achiving anything like this until 2023 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Why foreigners? Why not Australian? So many people looking for jobs. Publish businesses names and what job they are bringing. We want to apply for these jobs?
tell businesses - 'no' , this is the thin edge of a wedge to force AU's international borders open for tourism - Blind Freddy can see this is the aim of 'businesses'''. There are unemployed professional aussies who need theses jobs. Aussies 'stranded' overseas return first.
Labor hypocrisy. Only today was it argued that arrivals should be reduced. There is no dedicated quarantine and we've already had major acts of incompetence
Go one try it.... I have 40000 strandedaussies that will object and make your business interest overseas in need of a very expensive security upgrade I would also guess 170000 internationalstudents would not be happy either so do you really want to walk this path?
No thank you!
And yet here I am, vaccinated Australian that can’t even get back for work in an essential industry. I really feel for the International students but this pay to play system doesn’t help them either. Pretty much we are going to prioritize corporate needs over people again...
Didn’t JamesMerlinoMP only say today that people should only be leaving the country for “genuinely urgent and compassionate reasons” because arrivals are so unsafe? Is Vic government freaking serious?!?!?
