MICCI executive director Shaun Cheah says alcoholic beverages should be classified together with other sugary and caffeine beverages.

MICCI executive director Shaun Cheah said that while the chamber condones responsible consumption of alcoholic and high sugar caffeine beverages, that there should be no “discrimination in the matter of definition or to sentiments”. “The total lockdown and prolonged pandemic have already been hard on a large segment of the rakyat,” said Cheah. “A little indulgence goes a long way in these stressful times.

Study show that if brewers factory closed, the 2.2 billion lost will be gains from other income when the factory closed. And the 60k manpower will be working in other more pleasant work environment and much better pay...insya Allah

Rokok macam mana?

Tutup terus je la...buka kat tempat selain Malaysia..

It is just an industry that have jobs for people so they will have bread and butter for families; but if one is looking from another aspect and would want them to shutdown, then maybe a Good Samaritan can come in and take care of the rice bowls of these 60,000 workers

I would think the capitalisation has reached the end of road here. Perhaps it is time to pack all the experience/knowledge/commitment/constribution to where needed most.

Knncb..

Discriminate? Does covid discriminate? It's lockdown! Get in the program. Itu pun tak paham ke?

Is it essential?

not against liquor, but this is not essential. we have dedicated factory for alcohol supply n medical. let them operate with full swing. instead of this factory. I support to minimize movement esp in selangor n kl. Close as much as possible.

TOTAL LOCKDOWN idiots! Essentials only! 2 weeks don't open will make breweries bankrupt? Cannot contribute to fight Covid-19 then Malaysia don't welcome you! Breweries been milking Malaysian drinkers for years and now complain about gov's effort to fight Covid-19! Get out!

Take yr business some where else.

Hey MICCI/Malaysian brewers !! See the video below & after that you can stick your RM2.2 billion contribution in duties & 60,000 jobs where the sun don't shine.

Damn....it’s not justifiable to hv such dirty industry no matter how much it can contribute. It’s disease ok.

Pas will look after all the 60,000 supply chain workers. Pas with its members will pay more tax than Malaysian brewers yearly
