The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company workers on Monday shut down power facilities, as they embarked on an indefinite strike action over the non-payment of their 20-month entitlements.Lugbe Area Office building of the AEDC .Some of them read; “Pay the remaining: batches of 2020 bonus”, “Pension remittances ”, “AEDC management pay us now.”

Meanwhile, the management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria has stated that due to the ongoing strike action, power evacuation from injection substations across AEDC franchise area was disrupted. The Spokesperson of the company in a statement, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, assured that it had available bulk power for delivery to the distribution load centres of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company for its customers.

“TCN regrets this disruption and assures Nigerians that normal bulk power delivery to AEDC will be restored as soon as the injection substations are opened for onward electricity supply to consumers,” the statement read. The areas under the AEDC franchise include Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi and parts of Edo, Niger and Kaduna states.
