The Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, has said the Federal Government needs to regulate the cryptocurrency industry.

According to him, the Federal Government is optimistic about the numerous possibilities the crypto industry provides. “Regulations of the industry don’t mean a giant hammer slamming down on the activities going on in an industry but rather to optimise conditions for growth, tailored towards the industry,” he said.

Agba said, “Nigeria’s SEC [Securities and Exchange Commission] is currently in discussions with CBN [Central Bank of Nigeria] to enable better understanding and regulation of the crypto space.
