Despite slow start, cost rental has potential to lower rents and create more mixed estates

By the end of this decade, low- and middle-income workers who have struggled to afford rents demanded in the private rental sector, will have 18,000 “cost-rental” homes available to them, according to the Government’s Housing for All plan. Cost-rental refers to a system where rents are based on the cost of building, managing and maintaining the homes, and not market rates. It also offers security of tenure with leases of several years duration available to qualifying tenants.

And politicians are going to grant another 17,000+ undocumented intruders to worsen the situation.

Was like that for 20 years here in the States. Finally got into social housing after seven years on wait list. Spent all of those years+($$) moving b/c my rent would increase every year. It keeps disabled/old people vagabonds in their own land. Shameful.

Terrible to see that this is an issue (left 12 years ago).
