Should Canada cut COVID-19 isolation times? Business, labour groups divided

Canadian business and labour groups are at odds over preferred isolation times for people who have tested positive forThe question has renewed urgency after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control recommended on Monday that Americans with COVID-19 should isolate for five days rather than 10 if they’re not showing symptoms.

Some labour groups, however, have come out strongly against moves that potentially endanger worker health. In Alberta, where Premier Jason Kenney has said he can’t rule out the possibility of having to modify self-isolation rules for health care workers similar to what Quebec has done, labour advocates say even just the mention of potentially reduced insolation periods is causing anxiety among workers.

“Shortening isolation periods and limiting testing requirements, as proposed by U.S. officials, is like playing with fire. Encouraging infected workers back to work, even when they might still be contagious, is a gamble on workers’ lives.” “The needs, priorities and health and safety of frontline workers must be at the centre of any policy decisions about isolation times or any other COVID-related responses,” he said in a statement.COVID-19: U.S. CDC recommends isolation time for asymptomatic people cut to 5 days

Ask PremierScottMoe.....

I’ll stay home as long as I want. 🖕🏼

680CJOB The fact that we are considering allowing fully vaxxed HCP who have tested positive to return to work - WHILE positive, should make us all question everything happening! we’ve worked so hard to protect the vulnerable for the past 2 years..remember? SMH -makes zero sense.. zero!

So it is about money not health!

The faster you all figure this out, the faster we can all have our lives back. It's a cold for the love of God man, it's a cold!!

GlobalBC How did it go from “if you’re sick, stay home” to “I don’t care if you’re sick and will inevitably infect the rest of the workforce, go to work”. Employers are showing their true colors.

GlobalBC Why is the Global National newscast content, 75% about Alberta and from Alberta.

BC1 Free will always win.

GlobalBC nudge, nudge “says business group” let’s leave it to the health professionals and stop making capitalism the number 1 priority in a once in a century deadly pandemic bcpoli isolationperiod

the cdc has final say not our government leaders opinions

If the risk of transmission is very low it's a good decision. They see the data. Who infects who and when.

how about actually rewarding people for isolation and because we take their personal freedom away and force them to isolate to keep everyone safe they should not worry about rent or mortgage since you have insurance to cover this and ignore!!!!

GlobalEdmonton Here we go …

What is wrong with allowing people to work from home?

What was wrong with the other isolation limits? I think people were ok before with working till death, it was supposed to be a thing far off in the distance, looks like the supply chain breaks down when the humans supplying the chain get sick in huge numbers 10kOKLOL

Yes of course! Why are we isolating at all anymore? Obviously the risk is minimal now: this is clear by the fact omincron is spreading rapidly and the majority have zero or mild symptoms.

money money money
