Company that retains exclusive right to make Aboriginal flags says government has ‘misled’ community

proclaimed it along with the Torres Strait Islander flag. Other claimants came forward asserting they were the artist behind, it but in 1997 the federal court officially recognised Thomas as the sole author, giving him the ability to assign licences.

Wyatt told ABC Radio on Tuesday that “the benefits in the long term far outweigh what we expended”. “It’s about giving back the flag to be freely used,” he said. Gregory said he has already noticed a rise in online merchandise, some of it “shoddy”, featuring the flag design. He is concerned there may be more to come now that the assumption is that the flag is “free”.

Don't look, ScottyDoesNothing lied again!

Surprise, surprise, ScomoTheLiarFromTheShire lied in another announcement! 🙄

Why are they like this?

I don't get it. This flag is an official flag of Australia Why isnt it protected as such?

The only thing I enjoy with this sort of nonsense is witnessing the comments from the 'outrage' brigade. Keep it up

I have been confused by the claim the flag was now free as the designer sold the copyright years ago. Why the government gave him $20 million I'm not sure. I would agree, the rights to the flag are still privately owned.
