Alaska’s Black communities, past and present, are celebrated in the ongoing 'Black Lives in Alaska' exhibit and a Saturday business expo at the Anchorage Museum:

The exhibit “Black Lives in Alaska: Journey, Justice, Joy” will be on display at the Anchorage Museum downtown until Feb. 13. Photographed on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.

Admission to the museum, which is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., is free all day Saturday, Feb. 5, thanks to the Alaska Black Chamber of Commerce and The Business Boutique. Judy and Dick Veerman walk through the “Black Lives in Alaska: Journey, Justice, Joy” exhibit on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022. Cards sit on display along a wall at the “Black Lives in Alaska: Journey, Justice, Joy” exhibit. The cards are meant to be taken home by visitors and offer a way to learn more about Anchorage’s black community through different avenues.
