Fewer Oreos in some packages, a 3% surcharge on a restaurant bill, no room service—companies are finding ways to pass costs on to customers without raising prices.

Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises Inc., a Chicago-based restaurant group, has added a 3% “processing fee” to checks at many of its restaurants. Harley-Davidson Inc. added a charge last year to its motorcycles to cover rising material costs. Peloton Interactive Inc. in January began charging $250 for delivery and setup of some of its indoor bikes, a service that was previously included free.

Companies are finding all kinds of ways to make consumers pay for rising costs. Often that is not reflected in the posted price.

Finding? this has been going crazy n for decades! The implication is that thus is some sort of recent event, brought on by higher wage. The profits are what’s important. And to keep them astronomical they need to cut cost and have been with wage increases . That’s just facts

It’s pure greed

There's nothing new about this. They've done this every time inflation occurs. Its just new for those younger than Generation X.

Duh! The fact is that they prey on the stupidity or complacency of regular people. Regular people need to wake up and wise up!!

Less product for the same price is raising prices. A 3% surcharge is literally a price increase.
