Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa will on Friday pay tribute to one of South Africa’s most celebrated sculptors, poet and author, Professor Pitika Ntuli.

The event will be hosted as part of the inaugural “Van Toeka Af Living Legends Recognition Series”.

It seeks to celebrate Ntuli for his immeasurable contribution to the local and global creative and cultural landscape. The Van Toeka Af Living Legends Recognition Series is the department’s initiative to recognise living legends in the creative and cultural sector. The aim is to impart knowledge about what it takes to be an African creative, a cultural champion and a world class artist.Ntuli’s “Azibuyele Emasisweni is an online exhibition of bone sculptures, and it won the “YOU-2” award which is one of two People’s choice awards of the 7th annual Global Fine Art Awards.
