KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu says they will appoint an independent panel to investigate allegations of racism that have been levelled against the staff at Grosvenor Girls’ High School in Durban’s Bluff. This comes after black learners embarked on a strike and placard protest last Thursday. They say they are not allowed to have Afro hairstyles, although it is not expressly forbidden in the school rules.Mshengu says they will act on the findings and recommendations of the panel.
He says, “We have appointed an independent panel, by the end of this week, they should have given that and there are issues that need to be investigated by that panel, in relation to financial irregularities or alleged financial irregularities. That panel should be appointed or will be appointed by the end of this week, with the clear intention that by next week they must start by doing their work.
The independent panel ploy. The DBE_KZN learnt from CyrilRamaphosa . There's a bigger problem that needs attention. SCHOOL FEES ARE EXORBITANT AT MODEL C SCHOOLS. DBE_SA and PresidencyZA must attend to this criminality.
