The Federal Competition Consumer Protection Commission, in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, National Information Technology Development Agency, and the Nigerian Police Force, on Friday, raided some illegal financial institutions operating on Opebi Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

The FCCPC boss, however, said investigations had revealed that the loan firms were neither Nigerian companies nor registered in the country.

As a result, Irukare said the agency had written to global app companies asking them to suspend the operations of the online banks. “As we got more information we had enough evidence to convince the court to issue a warrant for us to proceed with an investigation into a search and seizure. And sometime last month, a court issued a warrant and between then and now, we were preparing a sting operation which is what you are seeing here today. The reason for this is because we wanted to be sure we are hitting at the place we could get many of them.

The govt needs to regulate this properly. How will a govt allow foreign citizens to take advantage of her own citizens. Most of this apps are not registered and have no physical address. Google and Apple should ensure immediate block or removal is carried out on those apps

Pls Lcredit too should be one if them.

Though, while i acknowledged the fact that they actually rescued some Nigerians who needed soft funds. However, the way and manner they go about getting their money from those who patronised them is disgusting and unprofessional.

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I like the detailed investigation and strict compliance with procedural laws done in this case. However, some borrowers in Nigeria na only shaming go make them pay o! The annoying thing is that some of them would borrow and use the money to live life that you can't

Good move in the right direction.

Among the financial institutions affected were, GoCash, Okash, EasyCredit, Kashkash, Speedy Choice, Easy Moni. Easy Moni dey owe me 15 naira since last year.

Make them also freeze Boko-Haram, Bandits, unknown gun-men and those looters too... Rubbish

They should release their names so people can avoid them.
