The target market for the new electric EQB – the larger family – is likely to be put off by its smaller interior and relatively short charging range, writes Shane_O_D.

The new Mercedes EQB, an electric version of the GLB, with prices starting at €64,030.

There are remarkably few electric cars on the Irish market with seating for seven. Aside from the – very expensive – Tesla Model X, the only options are van-based options from Peugeot and Citroën. It will be a while before the seven-seat Volkswagen ID.Buzz arrives too. Into this vacuum launches the new Mercedes EQB, an electric version of the GLB, with prices starting at €64,030. The GLB has the in-vogue upright lines...

Shane_O_D I looked at it as wanted a 7 seater. Price v GLB plus the range issue put me off. Went with GLB in the end. Hopefully in 4 or 5 years we have better choice.
