The South African Council of Churches (SACC) is calling on all members of the Christian faith to use Good Friday to also pray for the victims of of those who lost their lives and others who were affected by the devastating floods in KwaZulu-Natal.

The SACC has extended condolences to the people of KwaZulu-Natal where at least 341 people lost their lives.

SACC Secretary-General Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana says the SACC spearheaded by the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council in the province is actively responding to the devastating damage and loss to property and life. Mpumlwana says donations to assist victims and affected communities are accepted and people are urged to contact the KZNCC in the province.

“The devastation we have seen – the destruction of homes, schools and churches and the loss of lives – brings us to our knees as we pray for the safety of the people of that province. As the country celebrates Easter this weekend, the SACC encourages members of the Christian faith to set aside a moment of prayer on Good Friday to pray for KZN and the victims of the floods.”

Mpumlwana added: “Whether in our homes, or in our religious spaces – let us offer prayers for the province, and those affected by the floods. Let us pray for safety, pray for the comfort of those who have lost families, their homes and livelihoods. Let us pray in faith, that with the Resurrection of Christ on the third day, the spirit of restoration will wash over the province.”

Amen let us a pray

prayer on its own will never change anything

Prayer goes with a helping hand

The SACC is a group of devil worshipers. All their prayers and those who listen to them they're going to hell. Instead people should listen to Prophet Kacou Philippe the only true Prophet sent in our generation like the Prophets of the Bible. This is what mankind need

Devastating floods in KZN doesn't need prayers. Act, do something physically. Human resources, food, blankets, clothes, shelters, medicines. Not prayer.

Churches ought to have social relief committees to help respond to such crisis. With the hope that people with right moral ensure everyone gets help. Akenivuke Council and put that as condition for each church to have. Social Response team.

Just pray only Churches were protesting during Covid demanding people to come back now they are back, you just want to pray instead of opening those buildings for shelter, food etc. That is pure love and care 🙏🏾

Julius_S_Malema They can do so much than only pray. Mobilise volunteers to clean up beaches. Assist people in renuilding thrir homes clearing debris and find missing loved ones.

Julius_S_Malema Ahh. The usual thoughts and prayers trick. As if that has ever helped anyone.

You will not know peace until you treat foreigners like human beings!! Be cursed !!

And the Zimbabwean immigrant you burnt to ashes?

Im a carpenter I got retrenched in 2020. Im struggling to find employment. My children often cry themselves to sleep because they sleep hungry😭. I don't feel like a man because of that💔. I ask for any food nearing their expiry date🙏🏻

What's the position of SACC on Land?

While praying is good is but there should be mechanisms put in place to save lives prior in the event that such events recur. Working Early Warning systems in disaster prevention should be put in place to save lives.

Operation Dulula back fires, God will not remain silent when you do evil to fellow Africans

Julius_S_Malema How about SACC build houses for them rather then praying... stop this propaganda, not paying my TV licence

Julius_S_Malema Come on, we need practical help. Churches must lead a way in offering tangible help during these trying times.

Julius_S_Malema They need real help.

They also have a lot of money plz contribute congregates

All we need is prayer, come on not even funding or something..... Just prayer 😑
