Companies such as Archer Aviation, whose eVTOL aircraft is seen here, are working on electric-powered aircraft that take off and land vertically like helicopters.LOS ANGELES - As urban traffic gets more miserable, entrepreneurs are looking to a future in which commuters hop into"air taxis" that whisk them over clogged roads.

Neighborhood parking garage rooftops or shopping mall lots could serve as departure or arrival pads for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. That comes despite a Joby prototype crashing early this year while being tested at speeds and altitudes far greater than it would have to handle as part of an air taxi fleet.

Vertical takeoff and landing aircraft such as this shown in an image released by Wisk Aero LLC could help commuters rise above clogged traffic"I'm really excited about where we are right now; we have demonstrated the full performance of our aircraft." Lol not in backward South Africa .... can you imagine rhe chaos.

3 problems here. 1) a new licencing mafia will arise... 2) they will just land wherever they please and vehicles will need to swerve and brake anyway.... no congestion solution... 3) the current taxi industry will burn them all....

They must allow people to work from home😁

And the current taxi mafia will want 75% shareholding and contracted employment for their drivers. Scary + +

Oh sure I'd love to see our traffic drivers in the air ........
