As New York City tries to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Eric Adams met with business leaders Thursday to reassure them curbing subway violence is a priority.

CHINATOWN, Manhattan -- New York City offices could be half filled by September, the head of an influential business group said after a meeting with top business leaders convened by Mayor Eric Adams Thursday afternoon.

"There's some good news in terms of the efforts that the mayor and NYPD are making to fight gun violence and crime," Partnership for New York City President and CEO Kathryn Wylde said."But at the same time, the mayor emphasized that theres a sense of lawlessness, disrespect for the law and for the police that's developed over the last couple years.

"Obviously, this week is a terrible week," MTA Chairman and CEO Janno Lieber said."This week, I cannot say to any of New York City subway riders, don't feel afraid, because what happened is a terrifying nightmare."

Not true

Don’t understand how this mayor can show his face.

Too expensive, your safety is always questionable, and the quality of life really isn't that good (unless you're a millionaire).

In order for the people to feel safe in the subway system every morning and afternoon each individual has to carried a firearm to defend themselves in and out the subway crime is 500% the people of nyc do not trust eric Adams for sht

It was only a matter of time. The rent and other expenses to run a business in NYC vs online. It’s a no brainer.

BS. With all the crap happening underground...nope

Key word 'COULD', Doubt they will be.

Women are especially afraid of going back to work at NYC offices due to the rise in murder and rapes taking place in the subways.

To pay 4+ dollars an hour to park at a meter in manhattan? or sit in traffic since they closed one lane on the BQE near the bklyn bridge? or get shot while taking the subway?

Insofar as work goes, done. Too expensive to commute. Tolls, fares, parking. All of it. He wants tax revenue from consumers outside the office. Sorry, no.

Eric Adams says…..

Covid-19 is still surging in NYC.

Commute expensive. Takes time and frequent long delays and crime sudden random violence increasing.

This wannabe celebrity shoukd focus on the carnage that is going on in NYC .

Why would anyone want to return to the office when they are way more efficient and have better quality of life working from home. Get with the program. Manhattan is over rated

Not unless crime is fixed
