AEMO Chief Executive Daniel Westerman says the most affordable and reliable energy going into the future is “firmed renewables with transmission”.

It comes after the Australian Energy Market Operator released its Integrated System Plan, which forecasts electricity generation into the next 30 years.

Under the plan, Mr Westerman called for “urgent action” to accelerate a move away from coal to renewables and storage and urgently sanction more than $10 billion of transmission projects to escape the ongoing threat of blackouts and high power prices. “We’re calling for urgent action on generation, both renewables, firming and investment in transmission,” he said during a media conference in Melbourne on Thursday.

From where. Who has $1t to invest?

That's why nobody will build a Coal power station, because it would loose money.

Sure it is.

Garbage

MORE SUBSIDIES!!! taxpayerfunded highpowerbills

sure, like in germany? right? what a load of bs

so they don't need any more subsidies?

Pumped Hydro for most of the east coast would be by far the most reliable and cheapest option. Trouble is, the Greenies who want green power don’t get the fact that there is no such thing. There will be some compromise somewhere.

Ok. this catches the energy but can't store it. what progress is being made in battery life to store the energy and how long does the stored energy last 1 month 2 months 6 months ?
