The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) earlier announced that it would mobilise members for a solidarity nationwide strike next week.

The National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees has announced that it will mobilise its members to join the nationwide strike planned for next Tuesday and Wednesday over the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.

The group said as a result of the protest, it will shut down banking and insurance services across the country to force President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime to end the indefinite industrial action embarked upon by the public university lecturers’ union, ASUU. “However, if after the one-day protest by NLC on this issue and nothing is done, the union will have no other option than to call out all our members in banks, insurance and other financial institutions in solidarity with ASUU,” the group said.

“Take-It-Back Movement supports the two-day nationwide protest declared by the NLC over the ongoing ASUU strike. We call on students, workers, and particularly all our members nationwide to mobilize and join the action in their respective states. #WeCantContinueLikeThis," the group tweeted on Monday morning.

Shutting down Banks has nothing to do with University strike the issue is that the economy is in shambles

APC has done an irreversible & irreparable damage beyond words to this country..Still insulting our sensibilities by seeking re-election .. What a country?

It's terrific. A regime like APC still seeking re-election. And people trying to justify it by saying we should vote for individual.

Banks will still give money to the elites secretly and punish the masses. All these are irrelevant not until everyone is treated equally.

NLC is no more representing the interest of workers but the interest of politicians and biafrans who are enemies of this country. LP is an extension of NLC which leadership are dominated by Christians against the government

Nigerian bank wey na empty building no money inside

Paralysed the economy then the fulani government will know you are deadly serious. You fail to realised one thing: you are the engine moving the country & once the engine is shut down govt won't be able to cope.

I like the move

Usual tricks. The schools will open when elections are near. Younger people will be more focused on their studies instead of politics. Oldest trick.

ehn?

Nice

A whole president will get sick and will travel to his fellow president's country to treat himself. What a shame!

The leadership of the Student Union that should lead by staging a mega protest have have been cornered into political parties.

Supported

This should wake Buhari from his 6month slumber 😌

As diesel don cost, those ones wan use ASUU to shut down to buy time and see if diesel price will come down.
