Although the USS Orleck will not move to its planned berth near the Shipyards development on schedule, organizers say they're already booking visitors to the ship.
Larger plans are in place for the ship, whose arrival in Jacksonville in March was the culmination of a dozen years of work by the Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association. The next step on the Orleck's journey was to be having it move to the pier near the Shipyards property, across from TIAA Bank Field. That was to be done by Oct. 1, according to an agreement between the association and the city signed last year, but the association is now looking for more time.
