POUGHKEEPSIE, United States - IBM hosted US President Joe Biden on Thursday to celebrate the announcement of a US$20 billion investment in semiconductors, quantum computing and other cutting-edge technology in New York state.

"We are proud to announce that IBM is pledging to invest US$20 billion across the region," he told cheering workers. Biden, who flew in to Poughkeepsie earlier for a tour of the site, hailed the pledge from the"iconic American company" as another sign that"It's here at this factory and the factories of other companies across America where America's future is literally being built," he said.
