Volunteer for a local Bay Area conservation organization and participate in mentorship programs for under-represemted minorities in science. I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in a number of therapeutic programs that became approved drugs, and working with those teams has been deeply satisfying. However, I am very excited about our current portfolio of early research programs — my hope is that the biggest accomplishments are yet to come.
I had a fantastic chemistry teacher when I was in high school, and that set me on the path to being a chemist. Over time, that evolved to leading a group that generates proteins to support early research.That one doesn’t need to have be an expert at something to take on a task or a role - what you need to bring to the table is an open mind and the ability to grow and learn.
