US gas prices are rising as OPEC production cuts loom. The crude reality: the US, which is the world's biggest oil producer, still depends on imports. The reasons are complicated.

Here’s the bad news first: Gas prices are on the rise in most of the US and could soon hit a national average of $4 a gallon for the first time in two months. But the good news is prices might not stay there long, as they’re already falling in the parts of the country where prices are the highest. The national average price Monday was $3.92 for a gallon of regular gas. That’s up 12 cents in just the last week and 24 cents since a 98-day price slide ended late last month.

Lipow thinks the national average is already near a peak for the short term, as he expects the average is likely to top out between $3.95 to $4 a gallon later this week before it starts falling again. He said prices east of the Rockies are likely to follow western prices and start declining next week, and that by Halloween the national average could be down to $3.80 a gallon.

Oil companies are reaping record profits while we are hurting at the pump, this is corporate greed.

It's going to go much higher than that

Thanks Joe.

what happened to treasured oil reserves❓

I would kill for 4$ gas. I pay 11.20 a gallon today. 11 / October / 2022. Think about that and then bitch about 4 dollar gas ;-)

This like a third of the price in Europe 🥱

Well that sucks.

美国自己作死的结果

Let’s go Brandon

Putin clearly

I cant remember all the CNN tweets when gas was going down? Why was that

Thanks Joe

Biden close the reserve valve the 30 SEP 2022

If Joe Biden takes credit for prices going down, it’s all his for going up. He destroyed USA energy independence. American families are paying the price.

Come to California - it’s over $6 a gallon.

That is because OPEC has reduced the production by 1% and US gets less than 5% of its needs from the Persian Gulf! Did you get that?

Gas stations immediately raise prices when they aren't paying more yet. It's not just big oil. Everyone in the chain takes advantage of the consumer.

Biden’s America

why maybe bevy we are controlled by the oligarch us oil cartel. it will get worse if we do not get out and vote for all democrats running for all offices save our economy and our rights and liberties.

The real price of fossil fuels is having to live with a deadly (warmer) climate worldwide forever.

Complicated? Oh it’s Let me explain. The US shut output, is draining strategic reserves and begging countries for oil.

Maybe Obama & Biden shouldn't have sold our largest refinery to Saudia Arabia since they like to complain about refining capacity Seems relevant the truth be told instead of talking points that are lies

Biden said, he would end the oil industry. Of all the problems in this country this is the least complicated.
