There will soon be a new face at the top at Visa.

San Francisco credit card giant Visa on Thursday announcedwill become its next CEO on Feb. 1, replacing current chief Al Kelly, who will become executive chairman.

“I cannot think of a finer leader to continue to position Visa at the center of money movement in increasingly innovative ways,” Kelly said in a statement announcing the change. “Ryan has boundless energy and passion for this business and in his role as President, and as my close partner for the past six years, he has become intimately familiar with how Visa operates and the exciting opportunities this industry presents.

Before joining Visa, McInerney spent three years as CEO of JPMorgan's consumer banking unit and was a principal at McKinsey & Co. before that. He attended Notre Dame University. The company had not filed regulatory paperwork outlining a compensation plan for McInerney as of Thursday afternoon. He earned $17.8 million in total compensation in 2021.
