The Independent National Electoral Commission has promised that the 2023 general elections would not be business as usual for politicians, no matter how highly placed, adding that measures have been put in place to check any form of rigging.

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi told The Guardian that measures put in place to achieve these are not for public discourse. Oyekanmi said, “Elections riggers are known to Nigerians and can’t be undermined.” He said: “As far as the processes and procedures for the 2023 general elections are considered, INEC has put adequate measures in place for the credibility of the process.

“Such measures are not for public discourse. If you own a house and you disclose the security measures you have put in place to secure your house, then the house is no longer secure because what you have inadvertently done is to provide the criminals plotting to attack it through the vital information they need to actualise their plans….
