The Delta State Government has disclosed that the state government’s total debt profile currently stands at N272billion.He said, “The total debt size of the state is N272billion and the state is not the second most indebted in the country as reported. “N84billion of the debt is for contractors and N27billion is for pension arrears and a larger part of the debt was inherited by the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.”The finance commissioner also stated that the state was expecting a total refund of N240billion from the federation account as arrears of thirteen per cent oil derivation.

He added that the state government was only discounting a part of the expected money from FAAC and would leave the balance for the incoming administration. Also, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Olisa Ifeajika, said it was not true that Delta State had received N50billion from the Federal Government for repair of some federal roads in the state.All rights reserved.
