Jax hospitals ranked among best in U.S. by Healthgrades

Three Jacksonville-area hospitals have been named among the country's top-performing facilities.

Healthgrades — a resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems — named Mayo Clinic in Florida, HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital and HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville to its list of America’s Best 250 Hospitals. Mayo Clinic led the way as one of the top 50 hospitals in the country. It also received recognition in seven different specialized care categories. It was the second year in a row for Mayo to be placed in the top 50 hospitals.According to Healthgrades, the achievement puts the Jacksonville-area hospitals in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance across the most common conditions and procedures.

“It is important that consumers consider hospital quality when it comes to selecting a hospital,” said Dr. Bradley Shumaker, chief medical officer, HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital, in a release. “This is our fourth year in a row earning this prestigious award. That shows how hard our teams have worked to make patient safety a priority.”“The team at HCA Florida Memorial has been committed to a culture focused on high-quality patient care and continuous improvement through our integrated team approach,” said Dr. Albert E. Holt, chief medical officer at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital.
