Universal Parks and Resorts is promising a hotel, four to five themes and extensive meet-and-greet experiences in the new park coming to Frisco.

Mark Woodbury, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts, said earlier this month that the Frisco theme park would be about experiences — interactive attractions geared toward younger families and children ages 3 to 9. He said he envisions it being a one- or two-day destination.

The company is looking to create smaller but more focused theme parks to further tap into consumer demand at its major locations. Next month, Universal Studios Hollywood plans to open, a themed land based on Nintendo video games with a ride based on the Mario Kart series using augmented-reality technology and projection mapping.

“We’re ramping the build of what’s going to be a phenomenal theme park Epic Universe in Orlando, opening in 2025,” said Comcast CFO Mike Cavanagh. “And then we’re leveraging the great product that we have with some new ideas, some innovation around that with a kids-based theme park, smaller scale in Dallas and Hollywood Hard Nights in Las Vegas.”Alexandra Skores.
