Downtown San Francisco's upcoming Livat mall could open sooner than you think.

Downtown San Francisco's eagerly awaited Livat mall under construction at 945 Market St. may open to the public sooner than expected.

Ingka Centres appears to have already previewed the food hall concept it intends for Livat and its similar premised projects around the world. A press release late last year described, a food hall built around a sustainability driven plant-based menu centered on the"four cornerstones of Nordic street food": bakeries, beer, burgers and ice-cream.

As described last year, the Saluhall concept would feature public lectures and a cooking school inspired by the New Nordic Food Manifesto movement begun. The school would be open to"all" and kitchen facilities would be available for neighbors to use after hours. Surplus food created at the day would be"delivered to local people who need it."

With a target opening date by year end, my source adds that Ingka Centres has also not finalized leases with any other retail tenants at this point. They added, however, that interest in the retail opportunities — some contiguous spaces as large as 40,000 square feet — is strong from prospective retail tenants.
