One way that Purdy says they are able to focus on these roots is by starting and running a business together. Purdy says the girls’ grandparents have supported the growth of their family business as well. They have a great deal of business experience, having previously owned Foodland. So, with this experience, they help to deliver products to their wholesale customers.

“We fell in love with making candles but wanted a healthier type of candle other than paraffin, so we created a natural soy product that is paraben-free and phthalate free,” says Purdy. Evan Purdy’s woodworking business marries well with his wife’s and daughter’s Back to Our Roots Candle Co. venture. - Contributed
