Yahoo will lay off 20% of its total workforce by end of this year, the latest example of job cuts spreading throughout the tech and media industries

A Yahoo spokesperson told CNN that the company’s legacy ad tech division, Yahoo for Business, will be overhauled and transformed into a new division called Yahoo Advertising. As part of that change, Yahoo plans to cut nearly 50% of the division this year, “including nearly 1,000 employees this week,” the spokesperson said.

Yahoo CEO Jim Lanzone told Axios in an interview that these changes will be “tremendously beneficial for the profitability of Yahoo overall,” and will allow the company “to go on offense” and invest more in other parts of its business that are profitable. The announcement comes as a growing number of tech and media companies are cutting costs to adjust to a pullback in digital advertising spend amid broader uncertainty in the global economy.

Biden strikes again!!!

Yahoo? Still exists?

The tech industry is sliding down a slippery slope of cheaper alternatives. Cheap to make (YouTube, Instagram influencers etc.) They need to adapt to survive and are struggling to do that. Young people (future adults) want content, they don’t want to pay for it. Problem? Yup.

'Layoffs will commence as soon as they finish writing one more glowing article on what a great job Joe Biden is doing with the economy...'

It's ok Joe Biden has created 12 million jobs . Biden the best president ever. 🤪

Wouldn’t happen if a republican were president

Trump said once he's gone expect the media to crumble

Whats that, 10 people?
