A risk management executive looks at how the approach to risk management is evolving in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and offers tips to businesses looking to be more proactive in risk assessments.

By Jonathan Janas – Contributing writerFrom health concerns to increased cybersecurity risks, the pandemic ushered in a wave of ever-shifting obstacles for businesses that remain today.

For example, in addition to the potential impact and likelihood, some organizations are also weighing factors such as velocity and volatility that allow them to better assess and plan how quickly a potential issue could potentially spread across their organization and how long a risk may persist before being replaced by another, more pressing risk .

The days of the annual risk assessment are over. A major lesson of the pandemic is that companies cannot afford to sit on their laurels and hope for the best. The most important coverages may be different across businesses, but there are several must-have policies that should be prioritized, including cybersecurity, worker’s comp and general liability.
