Plans for a $1.2 billion private-sector development named Station Square, inspired by the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, have been unveiled at Woolloongabba.

Proponents describe the project as “the most significant example of private investment in Brisbane encouraged by the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games”.

Station Square was announced on Wednesday by developers Trenert and Deputy Premier Steven Miles, who has portfolio responsibility for planning and Olympic infrastructure. The developers say Station Square is “designed to celebrate and showcase Brisbane’s unique heritage and display who we are as a global city for the future”.The development will incorporate the heritage-listed Railway Hotel, most recently known as the Chalk Hotel, and include private and affordable housing, as well as a five-star hotel, office tower and retail plaza.
