A Victorian plumbing company has sacked dozens of employees due to spiralling debt, but its director reportedly paid himself a six-figure sum before going bust.

Privately-owned contractor C & S Plumbing Pty Ltd went into liquidation on March 27, according to news.com.au, a month after entering administration.

Documents lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission , obtained by news.com.au, show the company owes upwards of $12.2 million to more than 100 creditors.The figure contains about $1.9 million owed to 76 employees for unpaid wages, superannuation and retrenchment.The liquidator report contains allegations that the company's sole director Shane Arnold increased his salary four months before entering administration.
