Maria Ellina said the company expanded in just a few months

Maria Ellina, from Ormskirk, runs Beauty Worx Aesthetics - an aesthetics training academy offering over 25 courses. The 35-year-old started her business in 2019 in a small room near her kitchen.

Speaking to the ECHO, she said: "I started in a small room near the kitchen and got a treatment coach. Things grew quickly, as in a couple of months people were waiting in the kitchen to come into the room, so I had to expand." She added: "I now own a £1m company and successfully managed the growth single-handedly. We employ an amazing, experienced medical team of doctors and nurse tutors and practitioners consisting of a team of 11.

The trained nurse said her business "started from nothing" and at times she would be "up all night" as she built up the company.
