A sign on a restaurant informs customers that the facility is closed due to a power cut.

“So obviously we have a generator in place, but restaurants require a large amount of electricity, so generators that size are costly. We are investigating upping our generator, but for now we can only run on a limited menu – so 80% of our breakfast menu and 60% of our lunch menu. However, we ensure to continue serving coffee cause that’s our thing.”

The power outages have also caused traffic misery in some parts of the City of Gold – with traffic lights out. DA Federal Executive Chairperson James Selfe says it doesn’t make sense how Eskom would be forced intensify loadshedding on a weekend, when demand is low.

These power outages are a serious problem we in Ennerdale has had no power for 5 consecutive days. Seriously. Yesterday was worse now again

The repercussions are endless,,what's concerning is that winter is around the corner, we need to start looking into alternative energy through private company's,
