San Francisco-based tech firm Splunk is laying off hundreds of its employees in the second round of mass job cuts to affect the company this year.
Splunk CEO Gary Steele wrote in a Wednesday letter to employees, under the subject line"Transforming for Splunk’s Future," that the move to cut the jobs — most of which are based in the U.S. — had nothing to do with San Jose-based tech giant Cisco acquiring the company in September. It was instead a"continuation of the important initiatives" Splunk has enacted in the face of retraction and interminable unpredictability in the wider tech industry.
It’s unclear how many San Francisco Splunk employees will be impacted. The company had not filed a WARN notice in California as of press time.
