BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Metro Towing Services (MTS) giving the company the legal authority to tow and impound vehicles clamped by the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) here.

MAYOR Alfredo Abelardo ‘Albee’ Benitez signs a Memorandum of Agreement with Metro Towing Services for the towing of clamped vehicles in Bacolod City during a press briefing at the Mayor’s Office at the Bacolod City Government Center on Friday, November 3.

Benitez said that this city will collect fees from fines based on the tariff while the towing firm will receive a share from the payment. Last October, the BTAO fully implemented clamping and towing measures here following a two-week dry run. These measures are part of this city’s initiative to discipline drivers for illegal parking and alleviate traffic congestion and ensure smooth vehicular flow within Bacolod, pursuant to City Ordinance 1035 which introduced tow-away zones, indicating the guidelines and standards on accrediting privately owned towing companies, as well as the manner and procedure of implementing the towing, clamping, and impounding services here.

Fifty-eight vehicles were clamped and towed by the BTAO during the first day of its full implementation on October 9.
