This follows violent clashes between taxi associations CODETA and CATA along the Tokai route on Friday.

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Mobility MEC Ricardo Mackenzie has confirmed that negotiations between taxi associations Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association and Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association are underway.

This follows violent clashes between CATA and CODETA along the Tokai route near the Blue Route Mall on Friday. Police said officers responded to a complaint on Tokai Road. Upon arrival, they saw a group of men rushing towards parked minibus taxis opposite the mall and vandalising the vehicles."For those individuals, the criminal elements in the minibus taxi industry who want to cause mayhem, the full might of the law will come down on them," he said.
